JDM Materials – Vincentown, NJ

150,000 Watts-DC System

JDM Materials, Inc., a construction materials plant with multiple locations in Pennsylvania and New Jersey decided to go solar utilizing a PPA option, for discounted electric over a contracted term. Castle Energy's team was hired to co-develop the project, and facilitate the relationship between the investment group and the site host. Through its network of renewable energy resources, Castle Energy hired a construction partner to install the 150kW ground-mounted system on one of their southern NJ sites. The PPA structure allowed the business to install the system without any sizable up-front capital outlay, or the ongoing cost and responsibility of operation and maintenance. Downstown Airport – Buena, NJ

95,000 Watts-DC System

Downstown Airport is a private airport in a southern New Jersey community. Downstown Airport was looking to utilize their existing airport hangars as a means of saving money on their electric usage. They turned to Castle Energy for a solution. Castle Energy's team developed the opportunity and negotiated the resources for the five site project. Through its contacts of regional investors, Castle Energy created an investment partnership to fund the multi-site project, Downstown Solar LLC. Castle Energy structured an economical PPA option which allowed for a discounted electric rate throughout a designated period of time; providing a hedge against rising electric rates. Downstown Solar LLC owns, operates and maintains the system, while the airport serve as the host. Project installation partner: Palmieri Solar.

Raritan Yacht Club – Perth Amboy, NJ

11,280 Watts-DC System

The Raritan Yacht Club, one of the oldest yacht clubs in the nation, was interested in “going solar” to reduce their electric expense. Castle Energy met with the members of the organization, and mutually decided that a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) was the best option for them. Castle Energy and its investment partners formed an LLC to fund the project, allowing Raritan Yacht Club to enjoy the benefits of discounted electric. Castle Energy partnered with REC Solar for the full installation of this project.

Erco Ceilings and Sure Self Storage – Somers Point, NJ

60,000 Watts-DC System

ERCO, a supplier/installer of ceiling systems and Sure Self Storage, a public storage facility, occupy shared commercial space in Somers Point, NJ. Seeking to utilize the roof space on the storage units, Castle Energy developed an installation plan to accommodate a solar array. In creating a long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), Castle Energy was able to secure discounted electricity, generated by the solar panels to reduce the site's utility costs. Castle Energy was also able to structure an investment group to own and operate the solar system, through their network of local partners. Project installation partner: REC Solar.

Since 1963, Erco Ceilings has been a leader in ceiling and flooring supply and installation. They wanted to “go solar” so they could have low-cost electricity with long-term pricing stability and a smaller carbon footprint. They chose a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) through Castle Energy to receive discounted electricity generated by the solar panels, over an extended period of years. Shady Brook Farm – Egg Harbor City, NJ

Located in Egg Harbor City, Butterhof's Shady Brook Farm recently celebrated over 150 years of family farming. As a family farm, Shady Brook hosts their residence and business on the same site, common among many family establishments in New Jersey. Looking to improve efficiencies, in 2013 Castle Energy met with the Farm's owner to discuss ways to reduce the site's annual cost of electricity. Through its investment group, Castle Energy created a long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) and strategically installed multiple solar arrays, resulting in significant savings to both the business and residential aspects of the farm. Southern Cross Airport is a private airport in a southern New Jersey community. Southern Cross Airport was looking to offset their electric bill by installing a PV ground mounted system. They turned to Castle Energy for a solution. Castle Energy's team developed the opportunity and negotiated the resources for the site project. Through its contacts of regional investors, Castle Energy created Downstown Solar, LLC, a South NJ investment partnership to fund the project. Castle Energy structured an economical PPA option which allowed for a discounted electric rate for a designated period of time, providing a hedge against rising electric rates. RSL Inc. – Egg Harbor Township, NJ

With over 50 years of experience, RSL Inc. is a family-owned business supplying decorative door-glass products. Interested in reducing their annual cost of electricity, RSL Inc. met with Castle Energy at their home site in New Jersey. Castle Energy developed a ballasted solar system to fit RSL Inc.'s large, flat roof. Through its investment group, Castle Energy created a long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) to significantly reduce costs by offsetting the RSL Inc.'s need to consume electricity from their local utility service provider. With over 50 years of experience, RSL Inc. is a family-owned business supplying decorative door-glass products. Interested in reducing their annual cost of electricity at their manufacturing site in Fernwood, RSL Inc. met with Castle Energy. The large office complex consisted of three primary buildings with both pitched and flat roofs. Castle Energy developed a multi-construction strategy that included ballasted, pitched roof, and ground-mount solar systems to significantly offset the property's need to draw electricity from the local utility service provider. Through its investment group, Castle Energy created a long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA). Project installation partner: REC Solar.

Medical Center is a group of specialty dental practitioners' who serve the orthopedic needs of Camden County. As a for-profit group, Echelon Medical Association was looking for ways to reduce their energy costs and save money for their association members. East Dover Fire Company No.4 – Toms River, NJ

Located in Ocean County, the East Dover Volunteer Fire Company #4 serves approximately 27,000 residents in the East Dover section of the Township of Toms River. Looking for areas to save money, the East Dover Fire Company partnered with Castle Energy to install a solar system. Castle Energy structured an investment group to build, own and operate the solar system on behalf of the firehouse. Through the investment group, Castle Energy also created a long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), reducing the fire company's annual energy costs by securing discounted electricity. Elmwood Park Defender Company #2 - Elmwood Park, NJ

22,000 Watts-DC System

The Elmwood Park Fire Department was founded in 1908, when the borough was formerly known as Dundee Lake, as a volunteer fire company with one apparatus. The borough evolved into East Paterson in 1916, and then into Elmwood Park in 1972. Today the fire department has four independent defender fire companies with six apparatus, that serve 19,000 residents and local business owners. As a non-profit, Elmwood Park Defender Company #2 was looking for ways to reduce their energy costs and save money for their organization. Castle Energy suggested a favorable Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), which allowed them to receive discounted electricity produced over a designated period of time from the solar panels. Castle Energy also brought in an investment group to build out the project, as well as own and operate the solar system on behalf of the fire company. Project installation partner: RCL Solar.

Elmer Ambulance Corp. – Elmer, NJ

Located in Salem County, the Elmer Ambulance Corp is a non-profit 501 c(3) organization providing Emergency Medical Services to approximately 14,500 residents of Elmer Borough, Upper Pittsgrove Township, and Pittsgrove Township (Fire District 2 &3). Looking for ways to save money, Elmer Ambulance Corp partnered with Castle Energy to install a solar system on the back-roof of their Elmer based facility. Castle Energy brought in an investment group to build, own and operate the solar system on behalf of the ambulance corp. Through the investment group, Castle Energy secured a long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), reducing the fire company's annual energy costs by implementing a discounted electricity contract. Parish of Saint Helen is a Catholic Church located in Wesfield, NJ. Parish of Saint Helen was looking to save money by using their facility's roof for solar panels.
